This tournament celebrates the life of son, brother and friend - Phil LeBlanc.

Phil was an avid tennis player, and an even better instructor. He loved working with his kids at the Barrhaven Tennis Club as a part of the National Tennis School. This tournament has continued to represent the sense of community that Phil brought to the courts every time he helped a youngster with their backhand, or taught them the meaning of sportsmanship. If you'd like to learn more about the PLMT, you can see videos and quotes below that include messages from his family, friends and participants.

The first time I met Phil, I was probably up to his chest. I was a wide eyed 12 year old who, to be honest had only picked up a tennis racquet a handful of times before I attended a National Tennis School camp. Phil was the Head Counselor of the camp, and to me he was the coolest guy at camp. He was charismatic, jovial, light hearted, and always worked to get the most out of you. That week at camp, was the beginning of my life in tennis, which has seen me become a Head Counselor with the National tennis school, where I won the highest honour, the Phil Leblanc: Counselor of the Year Award in 2012. I also had the honour of playing in the final of the PLMT 2016 tournament, which was an absolute honour. No matter how you put it, Phil Leblanc from the get go, has influenced me as a person, and my tennis career so far. For now, for Phil, forever.

Phil was a kind, funny, honest and caring friend, brother and son. These qualities he always demonstrated in life and on the tennis courts. When kids would register for camps with him, they would return week after week. And when they outgrew the camps, they would return as volunteers just because they loved learning and playing the sport next to him. This tournament is to honour the life of a great man and a person who I am so happy to call my brother. We love you and miss you Phil! For Phil, For Now, For Ever!

The Phil Leblanc Memorial Tournament supports Canadian Tire's Jumpstart charity.

The vision of Jumpstart is simple: Canada, where all kids have a chance to fulfill their dreams. Jumpstart is a national charity with a commitment to local communities. Organized sports connect kids to their communities.

Canadian Tire Corporation recognized this and makes sure that money raised stays where it is donated. Jumpstart helps kids in financial need participate in organized sports and physical activities by assisting with the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or transportation.
